Robin A. Barnes’ experience spans both the practice and policy of recovery and resilience, from “boots on the ground'' technical assistance with small businesses rebuilding in post-9/11 New York City to developing a gold-standard post-Katrina small business recovery program for Gulf Coast fisheries. Robin wrote the chapter on small business and entrepreneurship for President Obama’s Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Strategy and led the development of the Greater New Orleans Urban Water Plan. She advises philanthropy, higher education, NGOs, and economic development organizations on strategies for small businesses and economies to adapt to environmental and economic threats.
Robin is on the faculty of Tulane University’s School of Professional Advancement, a Director of the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans, and also a Commissioner of the Governor’s (Louisiana) Advisory Commission on Coastal Protection, Restoration and Conservation. A born and bred New Yorker, Robin has been living, working, and playing in New Orleans since 2006.
